Movie Review- ‘Waiting’

This film ‘Waiting’ is directed by Anu Menon, ‘Waiting’ is a very sensitive and unusual story about two different personalities and their lives after a drastic tragedy.

Naseeruddin Shah plays the character of Shiv, whose wife (played by Suhasini Mani Ratnam) is sufferng from a very serious health condition and doctors have given up, but he is still in a hope that she would be cured.

While Kalki Koechlin played the charecter of Tara a newly married girl and his husband suffered an accident resulting in brain injury.

Shiv and Tara meet in the waiting room and their unusual friendship starts resulting in a loving relaionship between the two characters.

Its a metter which will question you what will you do when your near and dear ones will be in their last stage of life and how will you deal with the situation.

But this film does have a narrow difference, life revolves only around the two lead characters, so we can only get a glimpse of the two other characters which is a very big disadvantage.

Those stories in the periphery would have given a lot of depth to the central story. Unfortunately, Menon, the writer-director and other writers makes it too sanitised and elitist, thus depriving it of the depth that it could have achieved.
