Twitter is now an essential part of the fashion landscape: is a trend a trend if it’s not trending on Twitter? But we have taken a look back to the time before we all really knew what a hashtag was, and found the first tweets from our favourite fashion faces.
You don’t have to have an epic scroll to discover your first tweet, as Twitter has created a tool where you insert a username and it spits out their first ever tweet. Telegraph Fashion’s first tweet was highly professional: an announcement of our new fashion website in 2010.
It’s impossible to discuss Twitter and fashion without mentioning Kanye West who in 2016 has used the platform to share a running commentary on the industry. His insights include “yes I believe in ripped homeless sweaters!!!”, “the fashion world is sooooooo fake” and “Carine is one of the very few real people in fashion.”
